RELATION OF ISLAM TOWARDS PROBLEMS OF ADDICTION

Misuse of narcotics and other substances that cause addiction has been present on all meridians for a long time. It presents a great social and cultural problem of every community. Authors have firstly shown fundamental Islamic stands in relation to addictions, following the sources of Islamic rights, Announcement of Kur’an and practice of the God’s Emissary Muhamed a.s. (sunnet and hadis). Then, they have given the overview of the recent international classification of illnesses and kindred health problems according to the 10^th Review of the International Classification of Illnesses (Group "F10-F19" – Mental disorders and disorders in behaviour caused by misuse of psycho-active substances). In accordance with medical qualifications of certain psycho-active substances and their damaging effect on psycho-social and physical well-being of an individual and a community, they tried to give an overview of Islamic stands dating from the time when Islam was born in the 7^th Century of the New Era.
