In the laboratory
for invsive cardiology, there were 900 catheterization procedures
performed in the period between February 1998 and April 2001,
out of which there were 56 angioplasties. 551 or 58% catheterization
procedures were carried out in the coronary patients, 220 or 26%
in patients with valvular diseases, 61 or 7% with congenital heart
diseases, 4 or 0,5% in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy,
2 or 0,2% with heart tumours, theer were 7 or 0,6% bridges and
85 or 9% had normal result. In the coronary group, 53% had three-vessel
disease, 29% had two-vessel and 18% had one vessel disease. In
the group of valvular diseases, 49% had mitral valve disease,
45% was with aortic valve disease and 6% had combined two valve
disease i.e. aortic and mitral. Our procedures were complicated
with 1 case of acute inafrction, 1 case of stroke, 2 patients
had transitory ischaemic attack, one had femoral vein thrombosis,
there were 6 cases of ventricular fibrillation and 12 patients
had vaso-vagal reaction.
