Purpose:
The aim of this study is to assess 3D TOF MR angiography pre and
post MIP algorithm for the detection and characterisation of intracranial
aneurysms using IA DSA as the "gold standard" for the presence,
location and size of aneurysms and the detection of the neck of
aneurysms. Materials and methods: In 40 patients, 25 women, 15
men, age range 14-69 years, mean age 46,8 years, with nontraumatic
intracranial hemorrhage, were diagnosed aneurysms on 1.0 T MR
unit using 3D TOF MR angiography, evaluating pre and post MIP
algorithm, and they were correlated with IA DSA findings. Results:
43 aneurysms were finded in 40 patients. 7 were 3-5 mm large.
Size of aneurysms and direction of the neck were in agreement
in all 7 with IA DSA. 20 aneurysms were 5-12 mm large. Size of
aneurysms was in agreement in all 20 in pre MIP evaluation, 18
in post MIP evaluation. The direction of the neck was in agreement
with IA DSA in alll 20 in pre MIP, in 19 in post MIP. 16 anerysms
were larger then 12 mm. The agreement in size were in all in pre
MIP, and only in 8 in post MIP. 4 of those had no neck. The direction
of the neck were in agreement with IA DSA in rest (12) in pre
MIP, and only in 6 in post MIP 3D TOF angiography. Conclusion:
3D TOF MR angiography pre and post MIP algorithm is reliable tool
in intracranial aneurysms elvaluation for the presence, location
and size of aneurysms and detection of the neck of aneurysm. The
evaluation of pre MIP algorithm 3D TOF MRA provide useful informations
about size of aneurysm and detection of the neck aneurysms larger
then 12 mm.
