Systematic
artery hypertension is one of the most frequently found cardiac
diseases in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is the leading risk
for the development of ischaemic cardiac disease.Artery hypertension
treatment varies from patient to patient, and includes both non-pharmacological
and pharmacological treatments. Material and methods: A prospective
study of effects of «Nebivolol» was made on 80 non-hospitalized
patients with minor and medium artery hypertension. The research
lasted 8 weeks and included five visits to the doctor for each
patient.Daily doses of Nebivolol ranged between 2,5 and 5 mg.
During the examinations, the following parameters were observed:
the value of artery pressure and heart frequency, the value of
glycaemia, serum creatinine, cholesterol and triglycerides.ECG
was made during the first and the fifth visit, and ultrasound
of heart was made in 30 patients (the dimensions of septum and
posterior wall of myocardium of left ventricle were measured).Side
effects of the medicine were also observed. The results obtained
show a considerable decrease in both systolic and diastolic artery
pressures. It was also confirmed that the medicine was equally
effective in men and women. No metabolic irregularities were found
(increase of glycaemia, cholesterol or triglycerides). The only
side effects which were noticed were headache and bradycardia. The
treatment was not terminated because of these effects, only the
doses were adapted.
Keywords: artery hypertension, beta-blockers (Nebivolol).
