Objective: To analyse and to compare improvement of Quality of Life (QoL) six month myocardial revascularisation in respect to preoperative risk stratification. Methods: There were 385 coronary patients (306 male and 79 female, mean age 56,54), operated between September 1, 1995 and December 31, 1997 and included in QoL study. All patients were categorized into 4 risk groups, according to V. Parssonet's risk stratification system ´96: I-69% of pts with predicted mortality (PM) <=3% ; II- 16% of pts with PM-3-6%; III-5% of pts with PM 6-9% and IV-10% of pts with PM >9%. The overall predicted mortality was 2.8 and observed 5.2% (20/385). Five patients died during a period of six month after myocardial revascularisation. QOL was analysed before and 6 month after operation using our QOLi-NS index that represents patient's overall disease-specific health-related quality of life status, and is ranged from 0 to 100. Zero represents complete inability for performing any physical activity, presence of burdens, poor physical and mental status average QOLi-NS index before and six month after the operation.

Results: The statistically significant improvement (p<0.001) in mean QOLj-NS was registered of the whole group (50,3) and for each risk group ( I=43,1; II=41,6; III=47,7; IV=52,7). We compared the mean values of improvement of QoLi-NS between four risk groups according to V. Parsonnet's 1996>

Conclusion: The benefit from myocardial revascularisation, concerning health-related QoL improvement, was most important and significantly higher in patients with highest predicted mortality.
